Welcome
I welcome you to this place, inviting you to share with me many years of work, much of which is still available for purchase. I arrived in the Bay Area studying first at the University of Washington, then the Art Center School in L. A., and later, graduate degrees from the California School of Fine arts and the SF Art Institute. After spending my military service in Europe, I joined the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley attaining full professorship (now emeritus professorship), Department Chairmanship, was director, for several years, of the UC Berkeley Art Museum, shared studio space with Manuel Neri, and Joan Brown and was given critical duties by Richard Diebenkorn who became a good friend and mentor. I was active in the wave of figurative focus that swept through the S.F. Bay Area and later in the "Funk" art activities defined by the then Department Chairman at UC: Peter Selz (1967). My interests have always been diverse, ranging from drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, photography, ceramics, and installation. You can find examples of these categorized as "The Work." Please feel free to contact me for any reason.
